Smart Valve is a unique patent pending exhalation valve that can be opened and closed. When open Smart Valve allows your exhaled air to vacate the mask quickly so you are cooler and healthier because you will not rebreathe your exhaled air trapped in the mask. What makes Smart Valve unique is that you can close the valve when you’re near others to be courteous and protect them in case you are contagious.
Here’s how it works. Smart Valve easily attaches to the outside of the mask using hook and loop. Inside the mask taps on the valve tightly snap into the snap ring on the filter. You can rotate the valve up to open, showing a yellow window which is best for you, or rotate down for closed protecting those nearby, showing a green window with the valve open.
When you exhale, the air low pushes the rubber diaphragm open so most of the exhaled air quickly exits through the valve, making the mask cooler. It’s also healthier because you will not rebreathe your exhaled CO2 that may be trapped inside masks without valves. When you inhale with a valve open or closed, the air suction pulls the diaphragm closed so all the inhaled air passes through the filter.
You can close the valve to protect those nearby by rotating the cap down, showing a green window. You will feel a subtle click to let you know the valve is closed. All the exhaled air then passes through the filter and none through the valve. When you inhale with the valve closed, all the air passes through the filter just as it does with the valve open. With Smart Valve, you always breathe filtered, clean air while being healthier, more comfortable and protecting others nearby.
